Supreme Court Rules Location Data Protected Under Fourth Amendment

The U.S. Supreme Court held in Chatrie v. United States that people have a constitutional expectation of privacy in location data revealing their physical movements, and that even short-term surveillance constitutes a search subject to the Fourth Amendment.
